A Demulsifier (also called Emulsion Breaker) is a chemical used to separate emulsified liquids, typically oil-in-water (O/W) or water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions, into their individual components. Emulsions are often formed in oil, chemical, or wastewater processes, where water and oil are mixed with surfactants or other stabilizers. Demulsifiers work by reducing interfacial tension and breaking the stabilizing film around dispersed droplets, allowing coalescence and phase separation.
